Maritime Horror: Each Uisge

Description

The third part of my little "Maritime Horror"-series. This time we will stick closer to the coastlines.
In celtic mythology you can find creatures called "water horses" very frequently. They are water dwelling shapeshifters and appear very often as horses or ponies. Similar to elves they vary in character, from tricksters to downright evil creatures. And the most feared of all is the scottish Each Uisge.
In contrast to his slightly more harmless cousins like the Kelpie that live in freshwater like lochs, rivers or lakes, the Each Uisge can be found around beaches and coastlines. It usually appears as a beautiful horse, that invites humans to sit on its back and runs with them towards the water. A sticky substance on the Each Uisges skin makes it impossible for the victim to jump off its back. The human is trapped like a fly on flypaper. So the Each Uisge pulls its victim into the water to tear it appart and devour it. The only thing that remains is the victims liver, that will be flushed to the beach.
